Swelling Strings, Lark Ascending

After listening to the famous Vaughan Williams piece, one of my all time favourites in the classical repertoire, I painted this work. There is a section where the strings swell and the music is by turns uplifting, romantic, and nostalgic.

Later, I walked the fields behind my house and heard skylarks on the wing, their song unmistakable.

I felt compelled to translate my emotions of that experience through the use of paint alone.
