It’s often said that snow quietens a scene and while that’s part of the story, I feel there’s more to it.
I remember walking through Soho at night years ago. It had been snowing for a while and there were still flurries blanketing London’s streets and pavements. People walked carefully to avoid slipping and I recall the sound of cars driving through slush.
The pulse of the night had been dampened by the snowfall; it was rather beautiful.
Remembered as: city sounds / crunching underfoot / chirping pedestrian crossing
