Thankful For This Moment

£520

I try to practice meditation and intentional gratitude, but in today’s busy world, it is not easy to find time. One day, I made time to sit down and simply be mindful. I soon realised that I had much to be grateful for, including all the challenges of day to day life.

The Japanese have an interesting concept known as Ma, which as I understand it, means the space between things. That space adds meaning to whatever it sits next to. That could be a pause in a piece of classical music, or space between rocks in a Zen garden, or comfortable silences in a conversation.

In this painting, I recreated my moments of stillness and gratitude and focused on the space between things.

Remembered as: clock ticking / purring cat / rainfall
